3 Simple Ways to Spiritually Cleanse Your Home

There are times in our lives when things just feel a bit off. It is perfectly natural and normal to have this happen in life. When we are on a spiritual path sometimes these feelings are intensified dependent upon how sensitive we may be to energies in or outside of ourselves. Most of the time these feelings and energies dissipate on their own pretty quickly and there is no need to do much else other than to keep up with our daily ritual and meditation regime, whatever that may be. Other times those feelings or energies are just stubborn, don’t seem to clear and like to attach themselves to us or our homes. Continue reading 3 Simple Ways to Spiritually Cleanse Your Home

Simplified Way of Drawing a Pentagram in Ritual

The pentagram is a well used symbol in Western Magickal Traditions. There are many different resources online and in books that can be referenced as to the meaning and correspondence between the five points of the pentagram. One of the allures of following the path of magick is the inherent harmony we find that may not have shown itself to us in more mainstream forms of religion and belief. There are as many ways to tap into this harmony in the magickal traditions as there are practitioners. One way is to have all of the symbols, ritual movements and gestures work in conjunction with one another. Drawing the pentagram using the method in this post is one way that has helped me in my own practice to work more harmoniously with the symbols and is shared here for your use and experimentation. It is presented here as one of many ways to draw a pentagram and by no means is this considered to be the only way. Continue reading Simplified Way of Drawing a Pentagram in Ritual

Invisible Assistance

In the Western Mysteries the themes of birth, death and rebirth are seen in various representations. Whether it is the Masonic initiatory myth of Hiram Abiff, the discovery of the tomb of Christian Rosenkreütz or the Dying and Resurrected God of myths the world over, the theme of dying and being reborn is inherent. The direct response of the Initiate to these experiences is something that is better experienced than written about and forms part of the greater mysteries. A practical outcome of understanding the above cycle is to aid those that are being born, those that are suffering and those that have left the physical world to continue their journey. Sound and Color for Healing

“First, That none of them should profess any other thing than to heal the sick, and that gratis”.- Fama Fraternitatis

Healing has always been a part of the Western Mystery Tradition. Most working groups of the tradition today have some method of healing as part of their school’s curriculum. It is part of who we are as a tradition, to give aid to those who suffer dis-ease in service rendered to others. The Therapeutae in ancient Alexandria and the Asclepions of Ancient Greece are great historical examples to study in regards to this mission. We will explore one variation of this healing method in a way that is accessible to all. Continue reading Sound and Color for Healing

The Qabalistic Cross and Balancing Polarities

One of the first rituals taught in the different schools and traditions linked to the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn is the Qabalistic Cross. It has many uses that have evolved over the past century or so when it was first introduced in ritual form by the founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and has been modified to suit individual schools of thought and practice. This post will explore an alternate way of looking at and using the Qabalistic Cross in individual work, thus serving to further help the reader explore and experiment with this ritual. The Solar Adorations

The following exercises are an adaption from other works in the tradition of the Golden Dawn, such as those suggested by Israel Regardie’s “The One Year Manual”. There have been other variations of these exercises inspired by the teachings Paul Foster Case, that as far as is known, have not been published. The ones below use the correspondences of the four quarters aligned with those from the Sepher Yetzirah concerning the mother letters in relation to the elements of air, fire and water, and the corresponding areas of the physical body. The versions mentioned above all use a prayer of either an Egyptian or Astrological nature. Continue reading The Solar Adorations

Awareness of the Cosmic Being

There are several ways of categorizing the different worlds used in the Western Mystery Tradition. Many of them overlap or complement one another. One of the purposes of using a “Worlds Model” is for the individual to be able to give some type of categorization of what they are experiencing and witnessing when they are performing their esoteric work.  Over millennia esoteric practitioners have used different terms to describe and categorize similar experiences. Several examples of these are the  4 Worlds of the Kabbalists, the 7 Planes and the World Tree. While they come from different traditions and philosophies, the one constant is these worlds are based on experiential knowledge. The Model used here has origins in the teachings of Martinism and the Hermetic Qabalah. Continue reading Awareness of the Cosmic Being

The Pentagram, Active, Passive and Reconciling Energies

Pentagrams are one of the most versatile symbols used in the Western Mystery Tradition. Today they can be seen in the various Pentagram rituals stemming from the original Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn including those found in Wicca and Thelema. Elemental, planetary and zodiacal workings may also employ the pentagram or when working with spirits. Their use as amulets of protection can be traced all the way back to Sumeria and Babylon. There are several interpretations of the use and meaning of the pentagram and hopefully the following will add a different perspective. Purification and Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning! We all seem to do it at roughly the same time each year. Most of us aren’t even aware that we do this annually. We seem to intuitively know that we are about halfway through Winter and preparing for Spring. We may pass by some blossoms and see the first stirrings of new life and growth. We see North America watch the groundhog come out of its burrow to predict the weather for the rest of the season. The Neopagan community celebrates Imbolc with the goddess Brigid and the Christians celebrate Candlemas. There are a host of other celebrations and rituals from different traditions and religions. But what do they all have in common? Continue reading Purification and Spring Cleaning

The 4 Lettered name and the Elements

In the previous post, the Natural Order of the Elements, it was seen that there are reverberations regarding correspondences throughout a magical system of placing the elements in their natural order. It must be stressed that one set of correspondences should be consistent throughout a system. Magical systems throughout time have observed the natural world and what was within the magicians themselves. That being said, one of the first issues that comes to the forefront is the attributions of the 4 lettered name of Omneity, the Tetragrammaton, to the elements.
